Continuing with The Top 10 List Of Things
YOU Can Do To Create World Peace,
we now reach #1 which is . . .
Pray Peace
The number one “thing” that most people believed that we could “do” to manifest World Peace is PRAY.
Prayer is an active way of affirming the Truth. It is something we can “do” to get into that state of “being.” That place of infinite possibility, that place where every outcome of love, peace, health, abundance and perfection already exists.
Let’s take a look at the difference in “praying for” something and “praying.”
James Twyman in his book Praying Peace says that when we pray FOR something, we are implying that we do not have the “thing” that we are praying for. The energy of the belief that we do NOT have the thing which we are praying for, actually creates that outcome for us.
Gregg Braden in his book The Isaiah Effect says, “When we ask for something, we acknowledge what we do not have. Continuing to ask only gives power to what has never come to pass.”
Braden reminds us that Quantum Physics states that all potential outcomes already exist and that prayer is a way of giving “thanks for the opportunity to choose which creation we experience.”
Many of us grew up praying to God for something we didn’t have and yet desperately wanted. Many of us petitioned God, and felt that if we were really good, we just might get the thing for which we prayed for. This type of prayer—petitioning—is really ineffective. How many of us have prayed really hard FOR something, and didn’t receive it? Then how many of us have wondered why God didn’t answer our prayers?
It’s actually in the way we pray that determines the effect of our prayers. The Bible says, “Whatsoever ye ask for in prayer, and believe ye have received” more will be given. The point here is to BELIEVE that you have already RECEIVED.
When we pray FOR something, there is a belief in “lack.” There is an energy of desperation. That very energy of desperation or lack, keeps the object of our desire at distance.
We are learning that we are CREATIVE Beings, and further that we are energy beings. We also know through Quantum Physics that what we “see” in the world is reflected back to us. When we “see” and KNOW and believe peace, we experience peace; we call that reality into existence.
In the Practitioner training program at my church, we are trained in Scientific Prayer, or Affirmative Prayer, which basically means that we don’t pray FOR something we AFFIRM the already existent Truth. So our prayer is more of an affirmation than a supplication.
Another way of describing this act of affirming the truth instead of praying for something is through the example of the Faith Keeper in Native American tradition. Alan Cohen, in my book Peaceful Earth, reminds us that in Native American tradition, one person in the village is assigned the role of Faith Keeper.
It is the responsibility of that person to keep the “faith” for the entire village no matter what is going on externally. So even during times of drought, famine, illness or disease, it is the Faith Keepers’ responsibility to KNOW that the crops are flourishing, that the rains are coming, that the village people are healthy and that there is abundance.
This is our mission now, to become Faith keepers in Peace, so that we hold the consciousness for Peace despite what “appears” to be going on externally.
I heard it once said that “prayer doesn’t change God, prayer changes YOU.”
God doesn’t need to be changed, God isn’t judgmental, God isn’t personal, and God isn’t outside of us. Nothing needs to be changed except our perception of anything less than perfection.
We don’t need to pray TO God FOR any “thing,” we just need to see the Truth that is ever-present, always available. And by affirming, knowing, believing, and feeling the presence of peace, we call forth that outcome into our current reality.
The Essenes ask a very powerful question, based on the knowingness that all potential outcomes already exist by asking us, “Will you change it?” I would like to ask us, which possibility will we choose?
