A river flowing,
A soft breeze blowing.

A sweet soft kiss on your face,
A sacred quiet place.

A brisk walk in the park,
Star gazing after dark.

Dancing in the rain,
Living free of pain.

Lending a helping hand,
Walking barefoot in the sand.

The laughter of a child,
Waving at a stranger who smiled.

Listening to a friend,
Seeing one person in conflict, bend.

Snuggling with a cat in bed,
Visions of love in your head.

A warm blanket to keep from getting cold,
A gem of wisdom that never gets old.

Listening to your favorite song,
Not making the other person wrong.

Understanding someone else’s side,
Having a heart open wide.

Forgiving another from the bottom of your heart,
When differences don’t keep us apart.

Looking at the past with love,
Listening to the birds sing in the trees up above.

Being there when someone cries,
Knowing that while the body may leave the soul never dies.

Seeing beyond the outer façade,
Being there when someone overcomes an obstacle, to congratulate or applaud.

While these are all reflections of peace,
How do we make things like war and violence cease?

My only answer is to keep love in your heart,
Because this is the place where peace starts.
